Birding Wing
Nature London

The Birding Wing is a special interest group within the Nature London for anyone (from amateur to professional) interested in birds and birding. Membership in Nature London includes membership in the Birding Wing, and new birders are particularly welcome. Regular indoor meetings are held at the Civic Garden Complex on Springbank Drive, just west of Wonderland Road (going west, the first entrance on the north side).  The building is wheelchair accessible and offers free parking.  The buses that stop near the Civic Garden Complex are No. 5 Springbank for people traveling east/west and No. 10 Wonderland for people traveling north/south.  Indoor meetings normally finish by 9:30 pm.

THE OTHER DOWN UNDER
Lyle Friesen
Civic Garden Complex

Lyle Friesen has visited South Africa twice, once for a year in 1999/2000, when his family was based in Durban, and then again for two months in 2007. He and his family traveled extensively by car through many sections of the country, visiting places like Kruger National Park, Kalahari National Park, St Lucia, Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park, the Karoo, and the southern coast from Hermanus to Cape Town to the Cape of Good Hope. His talk provides insights into where to go and what you might see, hear, and experience, both culturally and wildlife-wise, in this dynamic country.

BIRDS OF TEXAS
Russ and Doreen Chantler

Many local birders are now travelling overseas for their winter vacations, especially to Central America. It seems that destinations in the southern US have lost their allure. But that’s still Russ and Doreen Chantler’s migration destination each year. They have spent the last five winters in their RV, photographing the birds of the Texas gulf coast and lower Rio Grande valley. Join us and enjoy the attraction of this unique birding area.
